I know that there have been a number of discussions on how to manage code (i.e. procs) with VSS, etc.
What I am wondering is does anyone (besides sales reps from the vendors ) have any experience - good or bad - with commercial change management tools (e.g. DBGhost) beyond just implementing an internal process on top of VSS.
Thanks in advance,
Paul

Last time I looked around ( quite a few months ago now ), best tool I came across was Embarcadero's Change Manager.
I especially liked it's ability to capture all the server/database information as different version snapshots. You can then compare across different, non-contiguous versions. It could all be scheduled as well so you could show up for work in the morning with a report in you inbox detailing the differences between Development and Production.
I'm not a big fan of DBGhost, but that may be because it's developer is pretty evangelistic about his product and expects people to disregard their environments and work the way his product works.

I've just VSS quite a bit for this, it's simple to use and as most people at the company were developers everyone had Visual Studio anyway so it was an easy solution.
Getting the scripts in there was quite simple, you just Generate SQL Scripts, select all the SPs in your database selecting the seperate files option and then import them into VSS.
And thats about it, job done.
