Collation Latin1_General_CI_AS stands for?

    Any idea what Latin1_General_CI_AS stands for? I mean what CI and AS stands for? I think the default collation is SQL_Latin1_General_CP1_CI_AS. Also what CP1 stands for?

    CI - Case Insensistive

    AS - Accent Sensitive

    CP1 = Code Page 1252, which is the set of characters supported.

    It is actually a combination of both what Mark and GSquared posted. It means that SQL Server is going to use the Code Page 1252 characters and searches are Case Insensitive and Accent sensitive.
