cms

  • I have questions about central management server

According to Books Online Versions of SQL Server that are earlier than SQL Server 2008 cannot be designated as a Central Management Server. But

    1) Can I manage sql 2000 or sql 2005 servers from CMS ?

    2) I have DEV and QA Databases both have one instance

So for QA –Default = QA and QA\SQL2005 where QA =sql 2000

For DEV –Default = DEV and DEV\SQL2005 where DEV =sql 2000

Can I manage them from cms?

    How..??

Yes... you can even get to 7.0 servers from custom code. There a recent webcast by Microsoft on CMS and its tips and tricks. You should check it out at http://www.microsoft.com/webcasts/

    Thanks.

    Mohit.
