Clustered install of Reporting services - 2 nodes

  • Hello all,

This is my first experience with this type of installation and it seems a bit tricky .

I have two nodes of a windows 2012 cluster with an install of an SQL Instance cluster along with SSRS and SSAS.

The problem is that since Reporting services cannot be clustered and it will only run on node 1, how to I install on node #2 for a failover ?

The SSRS database portion is fine as it will move with the failover.

    any tips or experiences ?

    Many thanks

First, I would not normally install SSRS onto a cluster. To scale out for either performance or availability, check out the "Scale out deployment" option in the SSRS configuration tool. This allows you to configure a second instance of SSRS to use the same SSRS databases. Adding a load balancer over the top of the SSRS servers should allow you to automatically route traffic to either of these servers.

  • Great thank you for your reponse ! I guess this is more complexe then I had planned.

Since I have installed the binairies on the first node but cannot remove features from a cluster install, I would need to start over ...

Is there a link to a step by step doc for this SSRS installation for a "Scale-out deployment ?

    Much appreciated
