We are planning to install SQL Server 2012 Enterprise on cluster
in two weeks.
Anybody done this? If yes, maybe any heads-up, any tips?
For example, is it a good idea to create a named instance or just use Default Instance?
Also, can we have multiple named instances on cluster SQL Server?
Thanks.

Yes, I have

The installer is pretty much the same as 2008 R2 with some enhancements. You may want to slipstream SP1 for your new install, would be my only recommendation. Which OS are you deploying on Windows 2008, Windows 2008 R2 or Windows 2012?

Completely your choice

Oh dear, scrub what i have said above, you need to go understand more about installing SQL Server to a Windows cluster before you do anything!
You may have only 1 default instance.

I know there can only be one default instance.
I'm just asking if we can have multiple "named instances" on our future cluster sql server.

Apparently we have a big Oops.
Out Infrustructure team (Network Admins, Hardware people)
don't know how to configure Cluster environment on Windows 2008 server...
Apparently you need to have extra IP's and two different networks.
They plan to call Microsoft.
Is it something really complex?
Should I try to learn how do it myself?

Im a bit confused on that one, there must be something else wrong if they are calling MS
Basic cluster
Windows Server Clustered
Node A --ip
Node B --ip
Heartbeat - teamed network
Then SQL Cluster installation etc..
Sounds like they should rebuild the windows cluster which is a simple process

Hmm it is worrying, however, check my 3 part guide on this site for how to configure the cluster. I don't have the link but if you search you'll find it

Yes IPs for each node, the windows cluster network name and any sql server network names that are used, again see my guide 😉
Calling MS will be a complete waste of time IMHO.

No, find my guide and use that 😉

Heartbeat - teamed network
The heartbeat network should not be teamed!
