Hello,
How to know if the cluster setup that was installed was Active/Active or Active/Passive. I can see that both instances of SQLINST1 ans SQLINST2 on node1. I can see both the SQLINST1 ans SQLINST2 from node1 and node2.
Thanks

I believe it is active/active which is more than one instance.. if you have only one instance it is active/passive...
But read the thread from sql gurus...

Active/Active and Active/Passive is older terminology, which Microsoft tends not to use any more in the newer documents. Basically, if you have a two-node cluster, Active/Passive would mean you only have one instance of SQL Server installed. If you had two instances of SQL Server installed, you would have an Active/Active cluster. Given that under Windows Server 2003 it is possible to have more than a 2 node cluster without going to Datacenter Edition, that's the reason the Active/Passive and Active/Active is now obsolescent.

Agree with Brian!
lets say you have three instances running on two node cluster, what you will call it? Active/Active/Active??

Aye, that was another point of confusion, since you can have multiple named server instances (and people have installed such).
