wats the size of checksum function in sql ie max n min value for it?

its not mentioned directly on BOL but its takin int value of 4 bytes so is ir safe to assume that it will take
data from -2^31 (-2,147,483,648) through 2^31 - 1 (2,147,483,647) ???

Yes, that is correct. Returnvalue is int, so valid values are what an int in Transact SQL can hold.
