Hello,
I just joined a company and wanted to know the version and service pack of SQL server..so
I did SELECT @@version
and got the following results:
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.760 (Intel X86) Dec 17 2002 14:22:05
Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation
Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 5.0 (Build 2195: Service Pack 3)
Does it mean I am on Service Pack 3?
The reason why I am asking is that our consultant believes we are not on Service Pack 3 based on the number it generated:
8.00.760
Please clarify and also Service pack 3 contains 3 components should I install all 3 of them on the server?
Thanks
Raghu

You are on SP3.
SQL Server 2000 RTM 8.00.194 RTM
Database Components SP1 8.00.384 SP1
Database Components SP2 8.00.534 SP2
Database Components SP3 8.00.760 SP3
As far as what components to install it depends on what to you use.

The 8.00.XXX info is usually found in the readme file that comes with each service pack. Alternately, Chip Andrews usually keeps the version numbers on his site, http://www.sqlsecurity.com/

Hi,
don't forget that applying security patches from Microsoft can change the version number also.

Also this KB article http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=/support/servicepacks/SQL/2000/SP3ReadMe.asp
gives details on service pack versions for SQL 2000.
