I would like to start running a policy that checks that the last successful backup was successful for a group of servers.
I found the option of using the Enterprise Policy Management Framework with the Microsoft best practices "Last Successful Backup" policy but unfortunately, it is not descriptive enough for my needs.
We run full backups of certain databases every night and the above mentioned policy will report success even if the full backup fails because some transaction log backup succeeded after the failure.
Is there another policy that can be recommended to check if the full backups succeeded on a group of servers?
Else, is there another method aside from email reporting for notification when a backup job fails?
Thanks for advising.

Can you express exactly what you're attempting to check for (do you have a T-SQL query for this)? On the Database facet there are two properties: LastBackupDate and LastLogBackupDate. Are you saying that LastBackupDate is being set incorrectly?
