I am just learning Reporting Services using the Business Intelligence Design Studio. When I place a chart on my design surface the Select Chart type dialog opens and displays pictures of all the chart types. When I placed my cusor on a picture, I was expecting a text box to pop-up with the tpye of chart. However, this does not happen. It is very confusing trying to tell the difference between some of the charts with only the pictures to go on. Is there a way to turn on the labels?

Never came across a way to turn on labels but i would suggest clicking on the chart type such Line or bar then placing your cursor over the image again. This should work, also bare in mind the labels only appear for a few seconds.

Right clicking on the chart and choose "Change chart type..."
This will display the current chart type in a dialogue box
