  • Heh. You know all of those answers looked OK to me. 🙂

  • While I'm sure you'd enjoy going home, you should change the password. Finding a DBA or even moving to another workstation is fairly inefficient.

  • An amusing set of options. Would be a useful interview first question. Would you even consider one that chooses last answer?

  • The -Z parameter might work fine if you are an administrator or have rights to change passwords on the SQL Server instance, otherwise I don't think it will help much. Since the question seemed to assume that you were not a dba, I assumed the -Z parameter would be useless as well.

You can (almost) always change your own password!

    SQLCMD -U MyLogin -P 0LDP455W0RD -Z N3WP455W0RD

  • Sorry, I didn't read the question quite completely. I missed the part about it having expired. I based my comment on the password just not working.

  • The option I MUST use in my shop is not listed. We are to call the help desk for any issues relating to passwords no matter where they reside.

Inefficient, yes, but I also stay employed. 😉

  • You cannot reset your password, but you can change it on expiration.

Not sure I'd hire anyone who chose the last option as anything other than a joke. Not sure I'd want to keep anyone that did it for real.

  • even though I went with the Z param but I must agree that if you are not a dba that would not help anyway 😉

Why not help? They have they 4th option for them and I found 1% answered that option. Steve it was a brilliant option... 🙂

  • I love the last answer - just go home. That one is the winner. :w00t: Gotta love it when someone has a sense of humor. Great question Steve!

  • I loved the answer to go home.
