Hi,
MSSQL 2000/sp3
We're moving the location of our T-logs to a different disk than our data files. I'm trying to set the default data directory within Enterprise Manager (Instance Properties > Database Settings > New database default location).
Each time I enter the new location, select OK, then re-look at the properties, the box has been cleared? Any thoughts?
Many thanks. Jeff

Shouldn't you restart the server?

Strange. In normal circumstances it should work.
If you created DB with the CREATE DATABASE statement, Change/add the following registry keys:
HKLM\Software\Microsoft\MSSQLServer\MSSQLServer
VALUE: DefaultData
VALUE: DefaultLog
It should help, but be carefull, because of wrong change in registry there is possibility for need to reinstall your OS

Very weird ... it worked using another server (os = win server 2003) .. no reboot required ...
Many thanks. Jeff
