Our IT guy recently change the server name on my request from CSIADOLP1 to CSIADRPT01. I did use sp_dropserver and sp_addserver.
I am seeing different results.
I have attached the screenshot of error I am seeing. I would really appreciate if somebody can present the cause and solution for this. I did lot of google search on it but cannot find anything that would help me.
select @@SERVERNAME ----CSIADOLP01
go
sp_helpserver ----- csiadrpt01
go
SELECT 'MachineName', SERVERPROPERTY('MachineName')
Union all
SELECT 'ServerName', SERVERPROPERTY('ServerName')
/**
MachineNameCSIADRPT01
ServerName CSIADRPT01
**/

Have you restarted SQL Server Service since the sp_addserver?

looking at the query result set and seeing IDs 1 and 2, i would say you didnt specify the 'local' parameter when executing sp_addserver
You should have ran
sp_addserver 'servername', 'local'
Then restart the SQL Server instance afterwards

After adding the server with 'local' in the query and restarting sql server did the trick.
Thanks to both of you for your replies.
