So I'm confused! It's been a long day! Very grateful for a pointer in the right direction. It's probably a really stupid question, but I work alone and could do with a confirmation.
I need to change the above for a SQL server someone else set up - the service is currently happy running under local System. I will create a domain account. Then assign it to the SQL server Service via SSCM. I know if it had been set up correctly in the first place that SQL set up would have taken care of permissions but in this case:
Do I need to grant all the permissions to the new domain account before hand or, can I just give [ (start, stop, pause) a service] & the rest will be taken care of by the per-Service-SID permissions & ACLS already granted.
Thank you.

It should all be taken care of. If you've got any locations for backups or file exports, for example, that are outside the core folders, then you may need to sort them out manually.
