I changed the SA password and now replication fails with an error whenever transactions are been pushed to the subscriber.
Login failed for user 'sa'.
(Source: SQLSrv04 (Data source); Error number: 18456)
I'm on SQL 2000 Standard Edition with SP4.
I don't get it! Why do i get this error? How do I fix it?

Is your linked server for subscribing server(s) using the 'sa' account? If so, you will need to change it there as well!
In any case, its not a good security practice to be using the sa account.

Happened to me once before. Try looking here: Go to the toolbar and select Tools, Replication, Configrue Publishing, Subscribers, etc. Then go to the Subscribers Tab and hit the elipsis next to the subscriber name. You'll probably see that the 'sa' account was used. I think it happened that way since the server was registered in Enterprise Manager with 'sa' because I certainly didn't use it on purpose 🙂 Hope that's your situation as well.
