How do I change the text color in a post ? I have to know hexidecimal color codes ?

Looks like. There's a list of them here: http://html-color-codes.com/
Edit: Occurred to me that you might be looking for how to color code, like this:
select 'red' from sys.columns;
If so, that's the code tags over the left of the edit pane for posts.

Thanks. If I'm hard up, I'll try that. The rest of the world has a nice little pop-up and you click on the color you want 😉

Wouldn't know. I'd never even tried to use that feature till I saw your post.
You could post something in the suggestions forum about it. I think the site devs look in there pretty regularly.

I rarely want to use it, but it's useful for highlighting a specifc word or character sometimes.

I use the bold tags for that.

Yes, this is one of the long-standing site bugs that I always forget to mention when they ask. You are supposed to be able to use the color-code names, like RED, but they only work if you quote them, which is not noted anywhere. Without the quotes, they come out like this.
Also, you are supposed to be able to use the RGB hex codes like this , which is what the buttons try to do for you automatically, but they do not work, even if you quote them, unless you also know to both quote them and remove the "#".
(as you can tell from my signature, I had to figure this out some time ago :-)).
