Change DB Properties

    Hello Friends,

    I got a quick question - we just merged with a new Prod and I have inherited managing a new DB.  I tried to set up log shipping but the trans log backup failed - so looking at this new DB realized that they have this DB in Simple recovery - I want to change the recovery model to FULL.  I also realized that the Auto Close is on.

     

    Its been a while since I changed recovery models.  Is this fairly safe to do and also does SQL Server need to restarted?  I plan to make these changes tonight.

    These changes can be made without restarting and are painless.  The main consideration is if the database is "owned" by a 3rd party application, making any changes could void the support agreement.
