First off I have not done anything with GPS. Not knowing your goals and what you have access to I cannot tell you anything more. However you need a provider to get the GPS data and it sill be they who will best be able to tell you how to get your data moved in. You might want to get a snapshot of your folks every 5 minutes, or verification of where they are when the phone is in call, or you might want to verify where they are based on a various other conditions such as maybe site survey. It all depends on what you want to do, who you use and if they can provide service to meet your needs.

From what I looked up there is a couple of GPS cell phone providers

Beyond that I have not gotten into the details. It is pretty cutting edge but from the sounds of it they can pull data location wise as much as you want. They also have mapping services. I was hoping that I could use there mappings and actually show the entire route. Thought that would be pretty sweet. I just wanted to know if there was anyone with experiance with the firms mentioned or ideas what to look out for.

Nope, no experience with GPS phone providers here, either. But what you have planned not only sounds very feasible, it sounds like a hell of a lot of fun, too! I'm jealous!
