Case statement

  • A note to the original poster. This thread is typical of many on this forum where, had you taken the time to write the question in the form suggested in the link in my signature, it would have been answered in a single response.

    Instead, there have been fourteen responses (excluding this one) from very experienced SQL Server developers and yourself.

    And the solution you have determined to be the best contains bizarre CASE logic and is not one of those suggested.

    Please, in future, do everyone a favour by writing out your question with DDL, sample data and desired results in a format which is easily consumable by others (as described in the above-mentioned link).

    It will save time for you and reduce the frustration felt by others who are trying to help you.
