Can't upgrade packages containing CDC source from vs2015 to vs2017

    When you open the project / package(s) in VS 2017 the CDC Source component  fails 
    You can't edit it or delete it
    You can delete the whole data flow task and recreate it, but then when you try to execute it It fails with CDC Souce can't be upgraded

    What am I missing ?

    Additional info:

    If I upgrade the project version to SQL 2016 then it works
    However, I can't do that because My server(s) are 2014 and can't be upgraded until a current huge project is completed
