Hi,
i have encountered a strange issue of Enterprise Manager, when i right click any DB, choose properties, the EM will hang. but other operation such as list tables/SP are fine.
It is ruuning SQL2000 on Windows 2000 server.
any idea? i don't have chance to reboot the server, since it is in production.
Thanks,
Jack

What do you mean 'it hangs'? Do you mean that you've selected the Taskpad view and you get a pop-up about a script error? If so, select View>detail (or something besides taskpad). Then do it again, but this time select Taskpad.

Looks like the server is too busy.
How long you waited?

Hi, Steve,
Thanks for your help.
the issue happened 80% of time when i performe this operation, is uninstall/install client require a reboot? if so, i can't do that, since this is production server.
thanks,
Jack

thanks SqlBill, "it hangs" means EM is not responding anymore told by Task manager.

Hi, Just an FYI. I am experiencing the exact same problem in relation to looking at the properties of our production DB (which is on a clustered platform) from EM on my own client labtop. I tried unregistering the SQL Server in EM and registering it again but to no avail.
I intend to uninstall SQL from my own client labtop and reinstall.
Rgds
