Hi,
I've installed SQL Server 2005 RTM version using local system account for SQL Server services. Later I've reconfigured it to use domain account for both SQL Server services and SQL Agent Service (separate accounts)
After this I've tried to install SP3, but could not until I've setup SQL Server server to run under local system account. Since then, I can't make it work under a domain account, getting the below messages.
Any ideas?
Thanks.

Was the service account changed through Services rather than through SQL Server Configuration Manager? If so that's probably the cause of the problem. Search BOL for Service Master Key for an explanation of why. The ALTER SERVICE MASTER KEY syntax should help you sort things out.
Cheers,

Ran this:
ALTER SERVICE MASTER KEY REGENERATE
Changed the service account to the domain account using SQL Server configuration tool, but the SQL Server service would not start.
Any ideas?
