Can't restore .trn database please help

    Hi, I am trying to restore .trn to a new database and get error message:the media family on device is not corectly is incoretly formed.Restore headeronly is terminally abnormally. Can someone please help me.

    The backup is damaged and unusable. Get a fresh backup and try again.

    ok, I have a backup from 2008, can I restore in sql 2005?

    No. Databases can never be downgraded.
