We were originally trying to do a restore but couldn't get it to work. When I tried to do the restore SSMS seemed to think the file was corrupt. After trying all sorts of things for 1 1/2 days we decided to try to get it done using detach/attach. Unfortunately their process is to extract data into separate databases for each client (me being one of the clients) and only send an mdf file without the log file. They have automated the process of extracting data, creating new database, detaching that new database, putting it on an FTP site. Then I extract it and get it onto the target servers. I'm pretty much stuck with whatever method they want to give me. Definitely not the ideal situation but right now I'm just happy it's working.

At least let them know their process is sub-optimal.
