I had now a couple of users suddenly unable to execute sp_rename on tables in which they had dbo rights. In master , they showed (EM) neither checked (granted) nor X (denied), so it seems that what they inherited the rights from has changed (I'm not sure what that is)
In each case, by explicitly granting the rights, things were 'fixed', but I want to understand what has actually happened here.
Can anyone explain where these rights are inherited from?
