Can't edit/add step on SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM Jobs

  Hi,

  I am unable to edit existing Step and unable to add new step to SQL Server 2008 R2 RTM version, getting the msg "creating an instance of the com component with clsid from the iclassfactory failed". I tried to Restart the Service & disconnected and then reconnected SSMS, still experiencing the same issue.

  Please do the needful, as I need to make it happen ASAP.

  Usually you can just restart SSMS and it works, but this is a known issue:

  And depending on which version you are on (the name of the question and the forum don't match) here are the fixes:

  SQL Server 2008 R2 SP1

  or

  SQL Server 2008 SP3
