Can''t Connect when using (local) Server

  • Using Windows 2003 on a test server that has SQL 2000 SP-3 and 2005 installed. When I try to make a connection to the (local) server in a a 2000 DTS package I get DBNETLib ConnectionOpen (Connect()).]SQL SErver does not exist or access denied message. If I change the server to the actual name it works. How come this is happening?

  • Found my own solution, SQL Server 2005 had been installed as the default (local) instance so I had to change my connection to point to the fully named instance for SQL 2000.
