Logged in as Administrator to take a database offline, so could copy mdf and ldf files. However I cannot now bring it back on line as message says Failed to connect to Server and Cannot open user default database. Does anyone have any ideas?
Many thanks

The database you took offline is the default database for the id you are trying to log in with. Come in with another id with admin rights, change your default database, and try again. Or use another id with a different default database.

Thanks for your response David.
I logged in as Administrator and specified a different database than the default database and that worked OK. The problem I now have is that when I try to change anything for example looking at properties or attaching a new database or trying to bring the default database back online I receive the Failed to connect to Server..Cannot open user default database..Login failed for user XXXX. This seems to be a Catch 22 situation.
How do I change the default database for say the administrator as at the moment if I open the properties dialog box for the login I receive the same message as above.??
Hope you can help
