Permission is not the issue, as this account is local admin and sql system admin account other jobs are running fine with this account, I tried another power account too to make sure

Sometimes this requires a full restart of the box, but I would check the eveny log to see if there is additional detail being logged such as a login failure.

SQLServerAgent could not be started (reason: Unable to connect to server '(local)'; SQLServerAgent cannot start).
This is what I see in event veiwer nothing else,

So the issue is it can't connect to the SQL Server. I'm gonna be silly and ask whether you have verified that the SQL server is running..
If so then I think you are stuck with having to do a restart of the machine, you could try a SQL restart first but I'm not hopeful.

Resolution: I tried copying few corrupted files that did not fix the proble,,
I re-installedthe service pack 2 for SQL server 2008 R2 64 bit and then rebooted the server that fixed the problem,
Had to wait till end of the day to troubleshoot as had to reboot the server few times,
Cheer!!!!!

Glad to hear you worked it out but I believe it would have been beneficial to state that a service pack was in play..

This all problems started when I had RTM version for SQL version and upgraded to SP2,
Thanks

Precisely my point, I looked back just to see if I missed it. That imformation would have changed the path suggested.
