Cannot find imported DTS

  • I used the DTS import wizard and successfully imported my DTS packages. However, when I look in SSMS in Legacy / DTS, there is nothing there. I have also tried BIS and using the Execute SQL 2000 DTS task. When I get to the select package part, there is nothing there.

If I run the wizard again, it says that the package already exists. I can see the package listed in msdb in the sysdtspackages90 table.

I have installed the 2000 DTS package, so the editor is there.

I am new to 2005, please help.

  • Chris,

Have you looked under Management - Legacy - Data transformation Services?

DTS packages should be listed there.

  • Yes, I looked there. No packages were listed.

I found a way to get it done. I had to save the DTS on my 2000 server out to a file and then import the file. After that, they magically appeared. I don't know why the wizard dosen't work.

    Thanks.

  • Make sure you install DTS addins to edit/maintain the dts packages in 2005.

Microsoft SQL Server 2000 DTS Designer Components

The Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Data Transformation Services (DTS) package designer is a design tool used by developers and administrators of SQL Server 2005 servers to edit and maintain existing DTS packages until they can be upgraded or recreated in the SQL Server 2005 Integration Services package format. After installing this download, SQL Server 2005 users can continue to edit and maintain existing DTS packages from the Object Explorer in SQL Server 2005 Management Studio and from the Execute DTS 2000 Package Task Editor in Business Intelligence Development Studio, without needing to reinstall the SQL Server 2000 tools. The DTS package designer in this download was formerly accessed from the Data Transformation Services node in SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Manager.

  • I believe if you go into SSMS and under registered servers you click on the "integration Services" button and add your 2005 box you will see the packages listed under Stored Packages\MSDB

    Thanks
