  • Is this a defualt (non named) instance on a cluster? If so, then it is a known bug. I don't have the link handy.

Let me know if this is in fact the configuration. Thanks.

  • Hi David,

This is a default instance NOT on a cluster Standard Edition with SP2 applied

    thanks

    Jeff

  • Are you able to use Configuration Manager? If so, what are you trying to configure using Surface Area Configuration? You should be able to do all of that through standard configuration updates via T-SQL.

    Thanks for being patient.

  • You would think in a perfect world but after doing the command I still have the error..unsure what this blog means by the 'on servers' comment

there is no sqlmgmprovider.mof on any of my SQL 2005 installations in that folder...

  • Not sure why but my one dev server shows the file name sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof.

  • Yes I have that but I do not have the sqlmgmprovider.mof file that is in the blog....

  • Yeah, run it with the other. It can't get any more "not working" right? 🙂

  • Curious, is there any other software installed on the system? In particular, I am wondering if the Windows Internal Database (aka SQL Server 2005 Embedded Edition) is installed on the server as well.

    😎

  • I did run the script for the sqlmgmproviderxpsp2up.mof and it ran but I still have the error...

Thanks for the help if you have any other ideas send them my way..

  • Hi Lynn,

Nope we only have one instance of SQL on this server. This is our ERP server and is dedicated only to our ERP software and SQL database installation

  • See Lynn's question. Very valid.

Other than that it certainly seems like some reinstalling would be the next steps in order to get those working.

  • By the way, did you get the "done" message at the end of the configuration run or did it fail?
