I use SQL SErver Management Studio Express (SSMSE) to administer a couple of db. One of them was marked as "default"
From that tool I deleted that db, and now I cannot connect to the SSMSE... what can I do?

no, it doens't help because I had to "browse the server and, for that, it should connect to it, failing again

can you re-register the db you dropped? I'm thinking 2000 here... as I haven't had a 2005 instance in front of me for six months now.
Thank-you,

Well, after reading some postings, I got connection, simply by typing "master" on the login form (default database).
I am connected now, so I have to change the default db to whatever existing db (for instance, master). How do I get to do it, from SSMSE)?
thx

Hello,
You can change the default database per login. So, in SSMSE, you would connect the Object Explorer to the server that holds the database in question and then click on Security >> Logins. Right click on the login for which you want to change the default database, and then click on properties. On the screen that comes up, you will see an option presented that will allow you to change the default database for that login.

well, I go to Securities, Logins, then, right clicking ANY user, Properties, crashes with the following text (I don't know if I could attach a file, I can't see it)
Cannot Show requested dialog
Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.SmoEnum
Failed to connecto to server AMC\EXPRESS
Microsoft.SqlServer.Express.ConnectionInfo
Cannot open User default databse. Login failed
Login failed for user 'AMC\Toni' (Microsoft SQL Server, Error: 4064)
