Cannot attach a DB

  • Hello experts,

    I tried to attach a Dabase which is in my Portable HardDisk. But Im getting an error saying 'Attach Database Failed' and noticed the error code as 824. Im just a begginger in Databases. Please help me to solve the issue ASAP.

  • you need to copy the database files onto the disk of the machine hosting sql server. u cannot run sql database on protable media

    Completely false. I often run database files on external hard drives or flash drives. It's network shares where you can't have database files (and even that's no longer true in R2).

    That's bad database corruption. The database will not attach cleanly, we might be able to get it attached, but it will almost certainly be suspect.

    Do you have a backup? Quickest and likely best will be to restore from backup.

  • Sorry for the late reply. I received the backup for the database fom my source peoples. Issue solved. Thanks all for your sugessions:-)
