Can you declare a user defined function in XQuery?

  I am using SQL Server 2005 (the last Beta before the official release). and getting a number of complaints about keywords not supported.  One of those is function, another is let.

  Can anyone tell me is it just that they were not supported in the Beta or did someone decide it shouldn't be supported?

  I have been using the link http://www.w3schools.com/xquery to learn XQuery.

  Well, I just found a list of non supported XQuery features at http://msdn.microsoft.com/SQL/default.aspx?pull=/library/en-us/dnsql90/html/sql2k5_xqueryintro.asp#sql2k5_xqueryintro_topic11

  And the ones I mentioned are on the list.
