Has anyone experienced any issues with VMotion from VMWare causing database mirroring sessions to be suspended or disconnected?
In our environment we are doing database mirroring with SQL 2008 from physical (principal) to virtual (mirror) SQL server instances, and we have experienced frequent occasions of mirroring getting suspended or disconnected.
We wonder whether VMotion in the virtual environment (set up with VMWare) is the culprit.
Would anyone be able to comment on that?

Hi
What makes you think it's VMotion, do you supsect manual or automatic VM movement?
One thing to check would be the network stack between the physical and virtual networks, any issues here could have an effect

We suspect automatic VM movement, but we don't have any hard evidence it is indeed the cause.
I was just wondering if anyone else has experienced this. Thanks for the suggestion!

Do you have access to the VI client? You can create rules regarding VM movement when DRS is enabled on the ESX cluster

Unfortunately not, no expertise and no access... :w00t:

Ahh, OK. Definitely check the network response and stability between the VM and the physical node too if you can.
