hi, i am just wondering if i can use the SQL Server 2008 RTM version for my Production.

Yes you can but if you are using SSRS the docs now says SSRS must be added to your SMTP if you are doing subscription which means you now need IIS if you are not running Exchange.

RTM (Release To Manufacturer) is ok for production. I know several companies that wait for SP1 (which is also already available) before installing on a production environment. The main thing you need to stay away from on a production server is CTP (Customer Technology Preview).
I have been using SQL 2008 RTM on a production server for a while now. I also installed SP1 when it was released in April with no issues.
