Can I move the log shipping monitor?

  • Hi all, this may be bad form as I posted this in the SQL 2000 forum but figured more people might see it if I put it here.

I have just been told that the server that runs the log shipping monitor for our SQL 2000 log shipped databases is to be turned off next Friday (nothing like a bit of warning).

Can I reconfigure a new server to act as the monitor for already established log shipping processes? If not, what would I have to do?

    Thanks

  • You might check this link out - but be forewarned - it doesn't look like it's been tested.

Since you're talking about a new server, you also could restore the system dbs from the old server to the new server.
