Hi all,
Can anyone explains me whether AWE can be enabled on a 64 Bit. if so plz specify the reason

Simple answer, no. It isn't needed on the 64-bit OS as it handles memory differently than the 32-bit OS.

please see Slava's post....Microsoft does recommend it be turned on! this only goes for enterprise addition.

So my question is this..if you have 64Bit MSSQL Ent Edition why would you need AWE if you are running with 64Bit Ent Edition OS. Considering that the Entprise Edition of SQL will see everything (memory wise)the OS is capable of seeing. Please correct me in my misunderstandings ...

On both 32- and 64-bit platforms, memory that is allocated through the AWE mechanism cannot be paged out. This can be beneficial to the application. (This is one of the reasons for using AWE mechanism on 64-bit platform.)
