Do you have AWE enabled?

Looks like a latch wait problem. Check out 'Latching' in BOL.
Run perfmon and watch the 'Average Latch Wait Time' counter. From memory, I think anything above 1500ms is indication of a bottleneck.
Thanks

If you've enabled AWE. There's a hotfix for SQL Server 2K SP2 that might fix this. SQL server may hold a latch while attempting to remove an object from the cache.

Thanks for the input!!
Don't have AWE enabled on this server and I already have that SP in. This was a strange one and I had all kinds of problems with the database today. Took a chance on a re-boot and everything seems fine for now.
I'll read up on the latching 🙂

This is weird. I never saw this before but had the same error yesterday. There was also a diskspace error and the server did nothing.
Like you not AWE enabled.
The only option was power off and reboot.
After the reboot everything was working fine and also enough disk space.
The RAID system of that machine has problems. Maybe you should check your disk.
Joachim.
