Can a restore come from 2 different backup sets

    I have a differential backup that I want to apply to a full backup from a different set, is that possible.

    No. A differential backup is all the changes since that particular full backup. You can not apply a differential backup taken after one full backup with one taken after a different full backup.

    that is what I figured but wanted some verification.
