Greetz!
I have some .bkp files that I brought over from another server and restored to a new 2008 enterprise db.
Now that they are restored, and there are new mdf and ldf files in place, is it ok to delete the .bkp file that kicked it off? Is this done simply by deleting the file via the File System or is there a better way?
Thanks!

There is no reason you can't delete a backup file after you have restored from it (unless you want to keep it for archive). It is not being used by the system in any way.

Hi,
Lite speed backup file has Extension .BKP, If you are doing any upgrade from 2000 or 2005 to 2008 then i suggest you to archive the backup file for some retention Period.
If you want to delete the backup file and this is only for one time then you can just delete in regular way but if this is repeated activity, which you are doing often the you can create SQL jobs using command line to delete those backup files.
I hope this helps you..

Yes that does help. These bkp files are part of a sharepoint upgrade so we won't be too many of them and not for long (hopefully).
Thanks!
