I guess most of us have been asked for IT support, often for technologies we have no experience of, at the least suitable situations. It makes me have sympathy for those in other professions who suffer the same way e.g. medical.

Sad that Bill did not make old bones! Was it the stress of the job?
I have found that sometimes the issue is that when you move on in your career your previous company just cannot let go. This has happened to me on two occasions. One person I did not help as he had been an unpleasant back stabber! The other I did after a moan as I set up a number of handover sessions and our boss sent him on an unnecessary site visit thus missing half the sessions while he offered me an extra £500/annum.

I've always taken the position that when a staff member leaves, we never call him/her for help afterward.
