Hi,
I was wondering if I were to clone a hard drive with SQL server installed on it and image it on to another PC with a different name, would that break my instance?
Are there any settings that need to be changed during the SYS prep. setup that I need to keep in mind?
Thanks. :)

I have a PC with sql server installed on it.
I need to clone the hard drive.
When the clone image is installed on another PC with a different name, will that break my SQL instance?
Thanks.

Why you want to go with Clone, Better to take a backup and restore it on your Laptop.

- The clone not only includes an instance of the SQL but also a client application, a back end, config. files, registry seetings ... etc.
- It saves time reconfiguring every system again and again.....
