On a bit of a tangent, I find it ironic that BPE probably works best with SSDs and that SSDs may eliminate the need for BPE. I know it's a bit different but it reminds me of the days of RAM Disk.
The one place where I can really see this helping is if you have large tables that make use of GUIDs for keys, which have a super even distribution pattern throughout the length of the table.

Explanation corrected. Apparently I was had an offset on my fingers last week.
