Today morning i executed the query sp_who2'active' on SQL server 2008r2.i found 2 spids 90 and 100
90 is blocked by 100. the logins for for both spids are same and the hostname for both spids are same.
the host name i found there is dot(.) what does hostname as dot means?why blocking happens between spids of same login?this blocking lasts for small duration only.

Not sure of what the question is. What was the wait reason? That is actually your answer.
IE you can be blocking yourself if you are rebuilding a big index in connection 1 and trying to select in connection 2. It will self resolve when the index is done rebuilding.

I don't know, never had that happen to me and my network admin is out at the moment. If I had to guess to save my life I'd say it's the local machine
