Your post is pretty vague so my response is vauge.
Scope creep can be a pretty big problem for BI projects irrespective of the size of the company. Is there a good PM or BA?
You should always be mindful of security. Security can be such a huge topic and is everyones job not just the dba.
Help out your dba and architect by being mindful of the size your constructs will be.
You should pick up a developer edition of sql server, and practice.
Brush up on your T-SQL and MDX basics.
Properly identifying what demension type is needed is important.
