Sorry to duplicate over here, I've raised a question over at MSDN which has had quite a few views, but no comments. I was hoping one of you knowledgable people may pass comment?

I'd agree with what is in the other thread. This doesn't work in SQL Server. There isn't a way to read/write to the database from two servers. Any software/solution that claims this is typically playing games.
You can use merge replication, but you won't be guaranteed to be completely up to date.
I would go back and discuss with the business people why they think they need two read/write copies. If MS, NASDAQ, Dell Online, and other large companies can run websites without needing two read/write copies, perhaps you can too.
