Better Looking Reports

  • Hi geniuses,

Does anybody know any sql component to improve the look of a reporting services report?

    Thanks to all.

    Have a nice day!

    Regards!

  • Could you be a bit more specific?

What do you want to improve?

  • I would like to improve the look/design of the report.

    Turn it more attractive visually.

Is there a way to add design features to SSRS?

    Thanks

    Sorry if it sounds crazy.

    Regards!

It takes a minimal capacity for rational thought to see that the corporate 'free press' is a structurally irrational and biased, and extremely violent, system of elite propaganda.

Society has varying and conflicting interests; what is called objectivity is the disguise of one of these interests - that of neutrality. But neutrality is a fiction in an unneutral world. There are victims, there are executioners, and there are bystanders... and the 'objectivity' of the bystander calls for inaction while other heads fall.

In SSRS you have to manage yourself with what has been given to you. So time to get creative 😀

Or you could use 3rd party providers such as Abu Dina mentioned.

Or go with another reporting tool, such as QlickView, Tableau, or if you have SQL Server 2012, PowerView.

  • I agree with Koen, Tableau is an easy to use tool.

Powerpivot is good too. It gives your clients interactive reporting in Excel, which in my experience they love!

Reporting & Visualisation is primarily about clear communication of information. People new to this field often mistakenly think that it is about prettiness, when really that is a distraction.

It seems that infographics and spectacular visualisations are very popular at the moment. They look super pretty but are often very difficult to understand or interpret the information from. They are also often created manually with java libraries or other intensive methods which are not very productive.

Take a look at the books by people such as Edward Tufte or Stephen Few. They advocate simple clean charts and tables which you can easily achieve with SSRS without addons, particularly in 2008R2 and 2012. Simple and clean also has a certain beauty of its own.

  • I agree with you davos, report prettyness is getting to much in the way.

But we must answer to what orders the client.

    Thanks for the reply
