Has anyone done any testing with SRS Beta 2 and the new client printing? This was one of the draw backs of us moving to SRS when it was first released. We did not get a chance to participate in the beta testing for SP2. Did you find it to work okay? Do you happen to have any literature on its features?
Thanks

We use RS Beta 2 in a production environment and the client printing was a major issue, I have a previous post concerning client side printing which noone has answered yet.. as to your question, it does work however we have separate reports for email(PDF) and printer due the reports coming out differently, margins , layout, fonts used. I have not seen any literature specifically for the client side printing, The books I have seen for reporting services are extremely basic and there are better resouces on the net. Any problems you might encounter with direct printing should be easy to solve by finetuning the report.

Thanks SilverFox. Could you tell me how client side printing is being done? I would assume when you "print", all the data in the report is asked for and brought down to the client and then printed. Can you tell if their is a client side pluging or something that does the actaul printing or is it IE printing the report? Thanks again.

What happens is that you have a printer icon when you click it for the first time on that machine it prompts you for a download from the microsoft site which is a cab file which contains to the best of my knowledge a activex control used for printing, this brings up the usual printer dialogue box. Contrary to microsoft documentation, this does not seem to work under win98 or windows 2000, it comes up with an error. see my previous post.
Cheers,
Darren
