A co-worker has a local edition SQL2000 database installed on his XP machine. He wants to upgrade it to a SQL2005 STD installation running on a server. He'd like to backup the database and restore it on the SQL2005. Is that viable? Is there a better way?
Thanks for any hints.

Yes, that is viable. Make sure you change version from 8 to 9.
In Mgmt. Studio Right Click Restored DB to go to Properties
Choose Option and change compitibility level to Sql Server 2005(90).
